Media Content Storage and Display
Media Content Storage and Display
PeerDeal focuses on the information about your content (e.g., licensing information, title, description, tags, dates/times of activity, etc.).
We do not offer an online media file storage or content management service that distributes or exhibits and displays your content. We attempt to leverage the multitude of free and subscription-based file services in the “cloud” which you can use to store and preview your content in conjunction with a listing on PeerDeal. This is what keeps our costs low with the financial benefits passed on to you.
To make it easier for everyone, we tap into cloud application interfaces (APIs) so the process is easy and seamless. Here is a list of current third-party APIs that PeerDeal supports directly and how it’s used. We plan to support other cloud services in the future:

YouTube (videos)
By default, when you register a video clip through PeerDeal, a copy of the file is uploaded to your YouTube account. This is the most efficient place to promote your video and where it can be searched, discovered and previewed by Licensees anywhere in the world. To help protect the value of your content, we recommend you only post low resolution previews or excerpts of your content. Free and/or inexpensive watermarking applications are available online if you wish to watermark your media assets first before uploading.
NOTE: When someone licenses your media asset under an Exclusive Option, we can automatically turn the “view” mode of that media asset from “public” to “private”. If you are using your own personal website or another cloud service, you must remove or hide the asset manually to abide by the terms of an Exclusive License Agreement. When the exclusive license expires, you can unhide the asset so new buyers can preview it.

Picasa Web Albums (photos)
By default, your photo images are posted to your Picasa Web Albums account. Similar to video postings, your photos can be promoted online, searched, discovered, and previewed by potential licensees anywhere in the world.
NOTE: When someone licenses your media asset under an Exclusive Option, we can automatically turn the “view” mode of that media asset to “private”. If you are using your own personal website or another cloud service, you must remove or hide the asset manually to abide by the terms of an Exclusive License Agreement. When the exclusive license expires, you can unhide the asset so new buyers can preview it.
PeerDeal Media Escrow Fulfillment Storage (Beta Testing)
When you upload a file from either the desktop or iPhone to one of the services above, PeerDeal automatically stores a copy of the file which is used for “fulfillment.” For example, we deliver this media file to the Licensee (buyer) after a transaction is complete.
NOTE: We do NOT make this file available for preview, playback or any other media distribution purposes. Also, if you uploaded a low-res or watermarked copy, this will be the file the Escrow service stores and makes available. So it may not be sufficient in some situations.
Regardless, Licensees (buyers) and Licensors (sellers) are encouraged to contact each other directly after payment is made to arrange the best method and format to deliver the media file(s).

Personal Websites
As another option, you can simply link your photo or video that is already posted on an existing website (this cannot be a password protected website or web page).
Simply go to your website where the media asset is posted, RIGHT CLICK on the image and select “Copy Image Address”. Then paste the resulting URL into the “URL link to low-resolution preview” field when you register a new media asset (see illustration below).

In the future, we plan to integrate other cloud file services so you can store and promote your content from almost any place you prefer. Let us know what services you use by sending us an email.
